Texas 3-Gun Championship

This April, we were proud to be the lead sponsor for the Texas 3-Gun Championship at Reveille Peak Ranch in the heart of the beautiful, rolling, never-the-same-thing-around-every-corner Texas Hill Country. Competitors from around the US came to the Lone Star State to tackle some unique stages in a 3-gun competition that’s unlike most others in the nation. Magpul EVP Duane Liptak was in attendance, shooting alongside notable pros such as Jerry and Ting Sun. Ditching the typical flat range in favor of stages that nest within the variety of natural Hill Country features, this match tends to be a favorite among pros and has made a special name for itself thanks to the fun stages that were designed for pure shooting pleasure. Added to that, the Texas 3-Gun has its own set of rules to complement execution of the challenging stages that are carved throughout the changing terrain. Check out the video below for an interview with pro-shooter and match director Aaron Hayes, as well as for some overhead views of the event that highlight what makes the Texas 3-Gun Championship so great.

With the many challenges of 2020, this match doubled as a reunion of sorts for folks in the 3-gun community. A completely full roster of 260 shooters – with 80 more on the stand-by list – made their way through the trails and riverbeds at Reveille Peak, connecting with each other again and finding themselves tested by Aaron’s wily course. To Aaron, while it’s a competition meant to challenge each sharpshooter’s skills, Texas 3-Gun is all about spending time with a like-minded community and growing the sport through increasing awareness. The divide between amateurs and pros isn’t as noticeable in 3-gun as it is with other sports, so if you come into the Texas 3-Gun Championship as a first timer, you never know who might end up on your squad. You might even get the chance to take notes from someone like Jerry.
