Average Joes Range Day

We join Milspec Mojo, Jimmy Rodriguez, and more for some training in Texas.

Earlier this year, we linked up with Jimmy Rodriguez and Milspec Mojo at the Average Joes Range Day for some back-to-basics training and community building. In the dead heat of a Texas summer, shooters from around the nation made it out to exchange training tips, check out what the vendors have to offer, and sweat out some awesome Texas BBQ.

Since their inception, Average Joes Range Days have served as a bridge between the more advanced shooters of the 2A community and those who are new to the 2A world. Not everyone can spend their lives at the range, and Average Joes is a great way to get involved with like-minded individuals and receive instruction from experts like Mojo. Vendors and attendees lined up their vehicles and set up tents to escape the sun between shooting, while the range was separated into three sections and prepared for different drills. After a safety brief, shooters were able to float from section to section to cover down on topics such as recoil control, cadence of fire, movement, and dominant/support hand firing for a wide range of skill work. Of course, there were plenty of opportunities for guys to show off and talk a little bit of trash along the way too. Despite its name, it was an above-average day at the range where a community of shooters with all levels of experience got together and focused on training to the fundamentals and becoming more proficient with their firearms.
